Planet Fitness gym goers told to get tested
With 34 cases now linked to the Crossraods Hotel in Casula, NSW Chief Health Officer, Kerry Chant it was important for new cases to be picked up quickly.
“I think this highlights the rapidity in which COVID can spread and the importance of us identifying the cases very rapidly,” she said.
She said the only way to break the chain of transmission was to isolate cases before they have a chance to spread.
Two of the new cases had been to the Planet Fitness gym nearby, with Dr Chant asking people who had been to the facility to get tested.
Staff and patrons who had been at the gym between July 4 and July 10 are now considered close contacts, so they’re being asked to self-isolate for 14 days and seek testing.
“It’s essential that anyone who was the between the 4th and 10th are consider close contacts,” Dr Chant said.
“I would also lie to take the gym for its cooperation -— it was able to provide us lists of people who attended the gym.”
She also said there were other venues under investigation, including the YMCA in Revesby, the Western Sydney Leagues Club, the Macarthur Tavern, and the Bowral Woolworths.
